Remembering Jack Layton

Not really being home much over the last week and a half, I never got a chance to post this photo of Jack Layton from Pride 2006.

Jack, you were an amazing leader, you were such a giving person and overall, Jack was likely one of the nicest and most accessible politicians I’ve seen. You sir will be missed.

For the photoblog today, I thought I’d dig something out of the vault. From the Toronto Pride Parade 2006. Shot with my Canon 20D.

The Whip at Koolhaus

thewhip

I was invited to shoot The Whip at Koolhaus on Friday night. They played an amazing set to a hyper all ages crowd. Shooting was nearly impossible, as there was no lights on the band, but I did manage to capture a couple of shots.

Coca-Cola

Earlier today, I did a shoot at Coca-Cola’s Canadian Head Office. In the modest lobby, they vinyl wrapped one of the walls with a line of vintage bottles. This was the backdrop I used for the portrait I had taken.

Nikka Costa plays an intimate show in Toronto

At the end of last month, I had the pleasure of seeing Nikka Costa play at the El Mocambo. It was a Sunday night and the crowd was probably under 100 people. Dispite the low numbers, it was a very enthusiastic crowd and Costa performed like she was playing to a packed room. The energy in her funk was outstanding. If you haven’t heard of her, definite check her out,and for those of you who have, note that she recently released a new independent album called, A Pebble to a Pearl.

You can view an entire album of images from the show over at my portfolio.

Slap Shot 3: The Junior League

Earlier this week, I shot some pictures of Hunter Elliot and Ryan McDonell from the upcoming movie Slap Shot 3: The Junior League. They were really easy going guys and it was a pleasure to shoot with them, especially catching them at the tail end of such a tight schedule, as they were in Toronto promoting the movie all day. Any Battlestar Galactica fans may recognize McDonell as Lt. Eammon ‘Gonzo’ Pike from the new series. A couple other shots can be found on my flickr stream.

Slap Shot 3 will be available on DVD November 25th, 2008
