So earlier this afternoon, I was taped outside the CBC building here in Toronto, shooting the CN Tower. Afterwards they taped me posting the picture to my blog on a laptop. The segment is going to be used during the show Test The Nation, which will be airing live on the CBC on January 20th. The show puts various teams against each other at an ultimate trivia game, this episode’s theme being 21st Century.

I’m going to be participating on the show, as a part of the blogger team, which will consist of bloggers from across the nation. It should be an interesting show, hopefully, I’ll remember my history from the past seven years, which is basically how long I have been blogging for. My saving grace is that it’s multiple choice. Let’s hope that recognition kicks in.

In a twist of fate, we had trouble uploading the photos from my camera to the laptop, as I wasn’t carrying my CF cardreader with me. After 45 minutes of failed attempts, we loaded the following similiar image, shot by me, from my flickr account, into the blog for the segment. It was shot in front of the CBC building a couple of years back, prior to a radio interview I had in the building and it was also my inspiration for the impromptu segment shooting we were doing.

For those who like to notice inconsistencies, yes the photo shot during the segment was shot horizontally, while the one we used for the laptop segment, pictured about was vertical. Basically, for the 5 second segment, it served it’s purpose.

In celebration for the recently announced Lensbaby 3G. You’ll notice that there really isn’t much distortion in this image, which just goes to show that sometimes you don’t need to get too crazy with the lensbaby. Sometimes it’s just a useful lens to get closer to subjects if you don’t have a typical macro.

A great tip on to get closer to objects while using a lens baby is to actually pull the lens away from the camera body, allowing you to get a longer focal length, giving you a closer composition of the subject.

Two years ago on our road trip to Austin we stayed with our friend Cisley and her household of animals. I think there were at least 3 cats and two dogs. Who know what else. Strangely enough, Almost every blogger or friend we stayed with had at least one cat, except in Chicago, New Orleans and Memphis were we had alternate alternate accomodations. It wouldn’t be so bad except for the fact that I am allergic to cats.

This was taken last week on Bay Street, just south of Bloor. Handheld, manual focusing and from the hip. Since I was using a borrowed 17-40mm L lens, I knew I would get a large portion of the scene. I definitely need to get one of these lens for myself, but first I got to get my camera fixed. Looks like I will be playing with film for the next couple of weeks, that’s considering I’ll have time to go out and shoot.
