Last week I checked out the first exhibition at the gallery DK in Parkdale. The gallery itself was created by the DK Photo Group, of which Russell Brohier is one of the founding members.
gallery DK can be found in the heart of Parkdale at 1332 Queen Street West. In May, The DK Photo Group will have their first group show for Contact called “Anamnesis”. The Grand Opening will be on May 1 @ 7 – 10pm.
This past week, I got a call from my friend Bill who was stranded in Toronto for the night. Having a second bedroom, we gladly had him stay with us while he was here.
I originally met Bill the first time I visited Vancouver and we have been friends now for over 10 years. We don’t get to see each other often, so it was a pleasant surprise to get to spend a little time with him.
I don’t know where the month of March went, but it’s ending with a bang at ICE08 at The Carlu. This week’s portrait is of Michele Perras who is one of the Producers at Interactive Ontario who helped program the conference which is running from March 26th to 28th, 2008.
Last Week, the Toronto Free Gallery had an opening party for their latest show, Creative Activism at their new location 1277 Bloor Street West (East of Lansdowne). I stopped in and tracked down Heather Haynes, for this shot. Heather is the Executive Director of the gallery which is now in it’s 4th year.
While in Austin, Texas for SXSW Interactive, I shot this portrait of Hugh Forrest for my weekly pic. Hugh is the Interactive Director and is the main guy behind this amazing conference.
This week’s portrait is of emerging playwright, Reese Baguio. Her first play, “Touch” is about lesbians, fairy godmother drag queens, and learning to breath. It’s part of the Carlos Bulosan Theatre’s “tales from the flipside 2008: claim your baggage” which is also a part of a two day “flipside festival”.
The showcase is happening this Friday March 7th and Saturday, March 8th at the Kapisanan Philippine Centre (167 Augusta Ave). Doors Open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8pm. $15 PWYC.

I’m a week behind, but I did shoot this last week. It must be hard to be killed and become a zombie every night, but that’s what Mike “Nug” Nahrgang does as part of the Toronto cast of Evil Dead The Musical. Nug plays the hilarious role of good ol’ reliable Jake.
His buddies at Alex Farm Products on the Danforth (377 Danforth Ave), where we shot this pic, love it too, and have already seen it again during this run of the musical.
Evil Dead the Musical is playing at the Diesel Playhouse which is located at 56 Blue Jays Way. It’s playing now and runs through to April 6th.
On Thursday, February 21, 2008, my cousin Jessica gave birth to Rayden Jestice Ponce. He was 7 lbs, 3oz. the second boy of the Ponce clan. I stopped by the hospital on Friday evening to visit baby RJ and took this shot of father and son.
