Last night, I had a chance to check out the new lineup of Blackberry phones at the Blackberry 7 Fan Night. In attendance were some Degrassi kids, ex Blue Jay Joe Carter, Deadmau5, Much Music VJ Lauren Toyota, and a slew of familiar social media peeps.

Last night, we celebrated the first year anniversary of Tweetgasm at the Gladstone Hotel. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since the first one last summer. Thanks to all the people who came out yesterday and to all the people who have come out to many of the other Tweetgasms over the last year. You guys are all amazing. Also a big thank you to Jeremy (pictured above) and the folks at the Gladstone Hotel who started the event and to Speedboats and Big Explosions for DJ the event last night, as well as several times over the last few months.
Last night also marks the last Tweetgasm that I will be hosted by yours truly. It’s been an amazing experience and I’ve been able to meet and bring some many people together over the last year. Tweetgasm will be taking a short hiatus, but will be back in full swing this fall.

A couple of weekends ago, WOMWorld/Nokia sent me and 9 other Canadian bloggers out to the Canadian Rockies for #NokiaUnfenced. The event was held in Canmore, Alberta at the Grande Rockies Resort and in Kananaskis Valley at the Rafter Six Ranch.
Armed with a Nokia N8, the Nokia X7 (which was announced especially for us) and a competitor’s phone, we were given several tasks over the weekend, while we dined, drove, climbed trees, and rode horses all with an amazing backdrop of beautiful greenery and mountains. It was the perfect setting to play with phones and try out their cameras, which was my main focus during the trip.
I immediately fell in love with the camera on the Nokia N8, which packed a Carl Zeiss Tessar 2.8/28 12MP AF lens. The picture quality was amazing, which wasn’t a surprised, cause I felt the same way about the Nokia N95 which I played with a couple of years back. I’ve always known Nokia to have amazing camera hardware on their phones. However, the big disappointment for me was the fact that the Nokia X7 didn’t have as slick of a camera as the N8, but it did have a sexy build (separate reviews forthcoming).
Though, I probably won’t be getting rid of my iPhone 4 anytime soon, it was exciting to see the innovations that were coming out of the Nokia camp. More importantly, although these two Nokia phones are on a Simbian OS, it is promising to see that Nokia has partnered with Microsoft and will be releasing a Windows 7 phone in the future, which could be a killer combo.
Below is a photo play by play of how the weekend went down. The second half of the photo gallery are all images taken with Nokia N8.

On Thursday, June 30th, I had the pleasure of being a part of an amazing group show featuring the work of 10 queer photographers including myself. We each presented 10 portraits culminating in a body of work which showcased 100 images of queers in the arts.
The exhibit 10×10: 100 Portraits Celebrating LGBT People in the arts is running at the White House studio space at 277.5 Augusta Ave (just south of College in Kensington Market) until Friday, July 8. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m

On Friday June 24th, the top two finalists from the Code Your Art Out coding competition battled it out for first and second place. Below is a gallery of what went down.

On Monday, June 20th, we celebrated another Tweetgasm at the Gladstone Hotel. This month to celebrate pride, I choose a #prettyinpink theme. We had Crumpler Canada on hand to give out prizes throughout the evening and we had Speedboats and Big Explosions spinning music through the night.
The next Tweetgasm is our One year anniversary event on Monday, July 25th, 2011. Mark it in your calendars.
