Reel Asian Film Festival: Passion Pick Flicks To Hold a Birthday Candle To

You know you’re in for a good time when a birthday is involved and the same applies to a film festival.   Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival will be celebrating it’s 15th anniversary starting tonight.  Unlike a human teenage counterpart it’s us that will be spoiled rotten over the course of not just one day but spread across six.

Being as lucky as a waving cat I’ve been able to tear a whole in the movie gift wrapping about to be dished out in the downtown core.  Here are my top picks from talent near and afar.

Not even an image can keep this fellow static and still!  Bashing out a silent beat above is Mr. Kwon.  You might not remember him with his now silver locks but jump back in the YouTube time machine with the dial set back a few millions views & tune in to the 1970′s on TV in Toronto to jog your memory.

How to do the Luminato Festival 2011

Here are some great tips from my friend Ryan Carter on this year’s Luminato Festival in Toronto

Mike Tompkins covers Adele’s Rolling in the Deep

I’m always amazed when I see any of Mike Tompkins videos. And the kid lives here in Toronto. I would love to snap a photo of him for the blog. I gotta see if I can make that happen.

Brand New Ocean – Jeffery Straker

Yesterday, my good friend Jeffery Straker released his newest music video, Brand New Ocean on You Tube. The single is off his upcoming album, under the soles of my shoes which he is having a cd release party for here in Toronto on June, 22, 2011.

The Bang Bang Club

The film is an intense journey between four peers, who’s friendship grow in the brutal battlefield of the South African landscape. Putting their own lives on the line to get the shot, this film is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Sara Giguere – Teenage Dream

So last night I got this tweet from @S_Giguere_Music asking of I was going to Tequila Sunrise for Karaoke. In most cases, my answer to that question would have been yes, but I was actually planning on making it a quiet night in after watching the season finale of glee. Literally minutes after that tweet, I got a text from @JasonRolland informing me that he got the Glee version of Teenage Dream for karaoke and all of a sudden my plans changed.

The long and the short of it, is that I sang the Glee version of Teenage Dream last night at Tequila Sunrise, and today I present you with Sara Giguere’s piano version.
