NEVADO presents Library Voices

Last night, There was a constant line outside of the Rivoli on Queen Street. It seemed to continually grow through out the night leading up to Library Voices performance at midnight. Inside, the back room was packed as the band hit the stage. And from the first note, the audience really started moving as this quirky, upbeat band, played their heart out.

Profile: Tiny Danza

The first Tiny Danza song I listened to was ‘Hindsight‘; I’m grateful that I am not the person that song was written about. The juxtaposition of the crooning vocals with the repetitive ‘fuck-you’s’ somehow evoke painful memories of past relationships gone awry and I’m into it. Their signature sound is as such considering they draw influence from The Roots, Donny Hathaway, Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, Michael Jackson and The Beatles. NXNE : Kurt Cobain About A Son, The Last Pogo

NXNE : Our Top Five Shows Check Out

‘The lineup seems like something from an 80′s-themed boat cruise’, that’s just one of the many criticisms I’ve heard about the 17th annual festival about to kick off this week. Notwithstanding, I’m always keen to check out bands that I’ve never heard and just celebrate music with everyone else! That being said, here are my top 5 picks for NXNE 2011:

BRAIDS

If you love art-rock/electro sounds, you’ll love BRAIDS. Their debut album was released earlier this year and they’ve received rave reviews from the likes of The New York Times.
Friday – The Garrison – 11PM
Saturday – The Great Hall – 11PM
