Ode to Your Waitress

Big thanks goes out to Valerie Cochran, who spent an entire day, touring me around Berkeley California while I was visiting the Bay area last month.

Always tip your waitress well, if she is a good one, she’ll treat you like royalty.

PS: you can see Valerie’s pic over here.

The Blogosphere is still working!

So i loaded up half my blogroll just now and to my surprise, the darn thing still works. Sure, a few sites are no longer up and running, but for the most part, it seems like people are still writing their little hearts out.

Let’s just say it’s very inspiring. I wonder if people will wake up today and notice I posted six times already. Sure it might not be my best writing. But a guy has got to start somewhere.

Expect more banality for the next little while. Now off to bed, so I can get inspired by photography tomorrow. I’ve got a few ideas brewing. I just gotta get them into play. Most importantly, I simply need to get out of the house on a more regular basis.

Note to self: there is a vibrant world out there. Discover it.

The layoutmonkey is back.

After a long break and a lot of hounding, the layoutmonkey is blogging again.
It’s his birthday on Thursday (June 7th). So go ahead and send him some wishes.

Loren Feldman of 1938 Media.

Loren Feldman

It took almost 48 hours for me to meet Loren Feldman at Mesh but I did right at the end of day two. Scott Brooks of ConceptShare was hanging with him, when Scott started singing my praises and insisted that I take Loren’s photo. The photo above was from our impromptu shoot.

Little did I know at the time that he is an amazing video blogger. His broadcasts are short and to the point. He’s straight up and god damn funny. Check him out at 1938 Media.

Drawn : Best Canadian Blog

Stupid Rannie and his stupid Bloggie

Congrats to John Martz and his crew at Drawn. They beat out photojunkie.ca as Best Canadian Weblog this year. Very well deserved John.

The picture above was from last year, when I won and he lost (although in a different category).

UPDATE: Apparently, I’ve been inducted into the Bloggies Hall of Fame of sorts. Starting next year, you will only be allowed to win in any given category, a maximum of 3 times. This means photojunkie will never be in the running for Best Canadian weblog ever again. I have won in 2003, 2005 and 2006.

Where the Hell is Matt?

Colour me jealous. WOW. You can find Matt here.

chromewaves updated and big giveaway

Frank over at chromewaves.net has redesigned his diggs and I quite like it. The new header rocks… Dare I say Arcade Fire. I bet he’ll hate me for saying that. I really do love it though.

He is also having a “Let Your Mailbox Live Like A Blogger’s” Giveaway & Reader’s Poll. He is giving away the following, plus other cool schwag.

5 large and 5 medium padded mailers, filled with CDs, CD-Rs, stickers, pins, coasters (really). Maybe even a DVD. I think I have some. Hell, maybe I’ll even cram some press releases in there.

Canadian Blog Awards

So apparently photojunkie has been nominated for a Canadian Blog Award for Best Photo/Art Blog. It’s already made it through round 1 and is now in round 2 where it’s down to the top 5.

I’m in great company here. Thanks for whomever nominated or voted for me. Apparently you can vote once a day, between now and Friday December 1st.

Although most people see these things as a silly popularity contest, it’s always cool to find the odd gem in the bunch. It’s also great to see a lot of Toronto blogs being represented.

Kudos to all.
