New York Apple Store lovers tell proposal story

New York Apple Store lovers tell proposal story – Macworld : Imagine proposing to the love of your life through time lapse photography, at the new flagship Apple store in NYC.

Hidden iPod Commands

So this morning getting into my car, I couldn’t quite figure out why my Nano wasn’t playing when I pressed the play button.

I take a look at the screen and apparently it is in disk mode, which I didn’t think was possible unless I was connected to a computer.

Apparently, there a a bunch of Hidden iPod Commands, including Disk Mode.

Always good to know!

Photocasting

I just realized that the new iPhoto 6 features Photocasting.

As Apple describes, Photocasting allows .Mac members to share albums with anyone, anywhere.

But from my understanding all you really need is an RSS feed that people can subscribe to.Once set up, people will be able to download your RSS of the photocast into their iPhoto app and sync it to their photo enabled iPods.

Unfortunately this option is only available to Mac users. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple eventually built the subscription feature directly to iTunes like it has with videos and podcasts. Definitely a cool discovery for photominded folk like myself.

Getting Connected

So I’m currently looking for a good Contacts Management System. Ya, fancy name for an address book program. I lost my old contacts when my hard drive failed a few weeks back. Since it’s spring, I figured I should start fresh and new. Now there’s basically nothing wrong with the Address Book software that comes with OS X but I was hoping there would be something that had a few more features.

David pointed me towards Daylite and Yojimbo but I was wondering if there were other options for Mac out there that people might suggest.

Apple hits their 30something

Forbes has some great features on Apple turning 30, on April 1st. They have a cool look back at the past 30 years, including some of their successes and failures. It’s amazing to read some of the history behind the brand. I myself have own a Mac for about two years now, but my cousin was an early adopter back in the late 80′s, early 90′s.

Looking to start a blog?

Are you looking to start your own blog and don’t know how? This article outlines the virtues of Blogger, Typepad and Apple’s new iweb as possible choices for you. Not quite the right fit, don’t worry there are plenty of other options out there, which I suppose can make the choice difficult. But the three mentioned in the article are a perfect starter for someone who has no experience. I myself started on Blogger 6 years ago.

Apple Store Event Widget

So I was surfing the Yorkdale Apple Store website earlier, to see if there was anything interesting on the roster. I noticed they had announced a new Apple Store Event Widget, so of course I downloaded it. So now I can stay up to date with any cool events going on. Unfortunately the widget only shows the events for the next 7 days, so if I really want to plan ahead, I’ll still have to check the store’s site.

Turn Down Your iPod

Apple has provided a software update that will allow you to set and lower the maximum volumes on your Nano and other 5th gen ipods.

Definitely a good idea for cautious parents. However most kids nowadays seem to be more tech savvy than their parental counterparts, and will probably find a way around it.
