Panorama for the iPhone

Just over a week ago, I decided to purchase the Panorama Application for the iPhone, created by the iFone Guys. Basically, the app allows you to create panoramic images from your iPhone, using the built-in camera. It can be downloaded from the iTunes Store for $9.99 CND.

All the stitching of the images is done by the iPhone and the app itself is fairly easy to use. You have the option of creating your panorama using landscape (horizontal) or portrait (vertical) images. You also have the added option of adding more images to the left or the right of your current images. Yesterday, afternoon, I discovered that the application also does a really good job at removing portions of your active panorama if you feel you have made a mistake. The big selling feature for me was the ability to save the completed panorama in a resolution of your choice.

I must admit, I was hesitant to spend the extra money on this app, since there is another application called Pano for the fraction of the cost, however the extra functionality seems to be worth the extra cost. I already feel like I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth from the application.

Below are some of the panoramic images I’ve created so far. The new header on the blog was also created with this application.

I “Heart” my iPod Touch

So it’s been a just over a month now with the iPod Touch and I’m very happy with the purchase. After dragging it to SXSW and toting it to ICE08, I’ve found it very useful in a) connecting to services like Twitter b) checking and deleting email and c) showing off my photos. I even walk around the apartment with the Touch in hand at times, instead of hoping on the laptop or desktop.

With devices like this on the market, I truly see the future of the web being in mobility. It’s unfortunate that data rates in Canada still suck and that wifi isn’t readily free and available.

I finally got myself an iPod Touch

So I finally got myself an iPod Touch the other day. A simple 8 gig one. So I’ve started loading it with calendar events and contacts (email me you info). I’ve put on a couple of albums and a sampling of pictures.

Simply amazing. I’m sure I’ll probably be kicking myself down the road for not getting a bigger one, but for now they will do beautifully and I’ll simply carry my 30 gig iPod for those days where I need a lot of music.

Now maybe I can win one for Jay.

iPod Touch, revisited

itouchphotojunkie.jpg

So it wasn’t so long ago when I first wrote about the ipod Touch. And seriously, it’s been weighing on my mind for weeks and weeks now. Should I get one, or should I just sit here and lust for it for the next few months.

I suppose the answer would be clearer if I had a steady source of income, but for now all I can think about are the main ways it could help me stay organized and on track. One of the first things I noticed about the Touch was the fact that you couldn’t update your iCal on the device directly, but I know for a fact that there is an easy hack out their to fix that problem and I’ve seen it in action. The hack basically unlocks the device making it function like an iPhone without the phone or camera capabilities.

Luckily, I had a paying photoshoot today and have another on Friday. And I have a couple of backlogged invoices I need to send out, but with a exhibit next week and the holiday season here, other bills need to get paid first.

iTouch, iWant, iTouch

So my friend David mentioned on the swarm that he got the new iPod Touch (I constantly refer to it as the iTouch). So basically, I asked him to load up photojunkie.ca on the screen and take a picture.

This is what he sent me. Gee, that’s sexy. iWants it even more now. If I had one, I’d totally load the sucker with my photos as an excuse to pull it out and show it off.

Another Apple Battery Recall.

A couple years back, Apple did a recall on ibook and powerbook batteries. Well I just found out that late last year they announced a second set of recalls which covers a greater period of time with a particular brand of batteries that were manufactured by Sony Corporation of Japan

The affected batteries were sold worldwide from October 2003 through August 2006 for use with the following notebook computers: 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4.

I think I might be in luck, my battery doesn’t hold a charge anymore, and it always got really warm. So here’s hoping that I’m eligible.

Thanks to Andy for the heads up.

One Strange Day – Part Two: The iMac have it!

So before going on my spree for eyewear, I stopped into the Apple Store to take a closer look at the various iMacs. It’s one thing to imagine 17, 20 and 24 inches online, but it’s something completely different to look at them up close. Needless to say I was impressed.

The 17 inch was a great size with a great price, quite a good offering. If I go this route, I’d probably max out the HD space, which is very problematic on my current powerbook.

The 20 inches was “wow that’s big” and I totally fell in love with it. This would be an ideal size for me. Currently I have a 12 inch powerbook, which is nice and compact, but trying to do any sort of multitasking on it can be cumbersome, flipping through a pile of open windows. The 20 Inch would definitely give me room to breathe.

The 24 inches was “OMG this is freaking huge” size. It would be nice to have, but is more than I want to spend. So I think it will be between the 17 and 20 inch.

Apple goes (red)

Apple has released the 4 gig iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED. It has the sleek new nano design in a hot red colour. Not only will your ears be happy, but colour is blazin and a portion of the proceeds of the sale goes directly to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.

You can check out other (red) products over here. I don’t know where I have been hiding, but I didn’t know about this campaign until now. Apparently even my-space is a sponsor, but hey, everything seems to be marketed through my-space lately.
