In Toronto we’ve already seen a rally of thousands of fans outside of the Air Canada Centre for the 1st game of the year. And we’ve also seen the outrageously optimistic start to the season after a shutout win over their eternal rivals, the Montreal Canadiens and a 6-5 win over the Ottawa Senators.
That’s the great thing about the start of a new season. Hope. Every team has hope that they can make the playoffs. Every fan can look at the upside of their team and talk about all of the things that could go right. Every player is ready for a career year. Everyone has hope.
Jets fans are living the dream. They waited, fought and dreamed as they watched seasons come and go without a team to call their own. And now they are back. Same name, new logo, same passion in the city.
Every season starts with Hockey Night in Canada and smiles plastered on the faces of a nation.
I know that I shouldn’t speak for everyone. But I will certainly speak for me. I have hope. I’m smiling and I am very excited for the 2011-2012 NHL season.
