Peach Cobbler

To follow up on my Spadina Saturday post, I figured it would be good to show you guys my first Peach Cobbler. It was baked using peaches picked at the Spadina Museum Gardens. And let me say it was very tasty.

Spadina Saturdays

It’s a wet Saturday morning just before noon when we arrived, and the small group of volunteers are just about to wander off into the orchard and gardens to help pick some fruits and vegetables at Spadina Museum Gardens. Despite the wet and cool weather, everyone is in good spirits, enthusiastic about gathering a healthy harvest to sell at the market.

Spadina Saturdays is a initiative by the folks at Not Far from the Tree in co-ordination with Spadina Museum Gardens and the Green Barns Farmers Market. Every Saturday through the season, volunteers meet up at the gardens from 11am to 2pm to help harvest produce that gets sold at the farmers market later that day. Their goal of the folks at Not Far from the Tree is finding and sharing local fruit (and vegetables) that might otherwise go to waste.

Along the boardwalk

This was taken back in June, On Jay’s birthday. His sister was staying with us for the weekend and we decided to take her down to the beach after checking out the Riverdale Art Walk.

It’s now the beginning of August and my birthday is just a couple of weeks away. Where did the summer go? I think I’ve been spending too much of it in my air conditioned apartment, getting all my ducks in a row.
