Magazines Canada : Best On Page

Magazines Canada held their Best On Page event at Maro in Liberty Village this past evening. The exhibited showcased international Magazine Creative work, which in general was print advertising. It was great to see a lot of great photography used in a lot of the ads, which for me was very inspirational. Overall, a great event with a lot of intriguing and original concepts.

Steaks on the BBQ

So far the is my most popular video on Flickr.

Flickr goes Video

So by know, you’ve probably heard that the popular photo sharing site, Flickr has introduced Video sharing to their platform. This is open to anyone on flickr with a Pro account. And this privilege allows you to upload 90 second videos no larger than 150 megs.

The first complaint that most people will have is regarding the time limit on the videos. I too am wishing it were a little longer, just a tad, say 2 minutes. But I understand why flickr has done this, by all means I don’t think they are looking to be the next YouTube, simply they are providing a means to share little slices of life, 90 seconds at a time.

On the plus side, the flash interface of the videos is nice, clean and scalable to best fit or embed in your blog. You still have the ease of use, with simple uploading and all the other features you’ve known from flickr (privacy settings, geotagging etc). And it’s on flickr, which is one less site to drag people too, especially if you have a following there.

That being said, I currently have videos on 4 different services, YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook and now Flickr and with WordPress 2.5 installed I can now upload video directly to the blog, which I haven’t tried yet.

The one thing to expect over the next little while is a lot of video, from people who haven’t traditional shared video online. Welcome to the fold.
