So I’m half way through stretching the canvases for the 24 show at Solferino’s. I’ve stripped and stretched twelve of the canvases and I’ve got twelve more to go. I’ve really gotta thank Curry’s Art supplies for saving the day, since they carry gallery style 12×12 pre-stretched canvas. I ended up having to remove the canvases, but it was more economical and readily available then buying 96 stretcher bars from anywhere else.

I have to second the Canvas Canada recommendation. I’ve had one canvas and a fine art paper print done there. I’m definitely planning on getting more through them. Great quality and excellent customer service.
Really interesting idea for getting stretching bars to stretch them yourself.
