Introducing Lilith

The new piggie

Have a new piggie at home. Her name is Lilith. She is adorable.

PS: Angelica is doing well, she is so big now. It’s amazing how fast they grow.

Keep Moving Forward

So March has been slow around here. Here being the site. In real life, it’s been quite eventful. Strangely enough, I have lots to say. I just haven’t given myself time to say it.

Here’s a point form overview… (of recent movies I have seen, I started writing this post and found myself writing a bit more then I thought, more updates to come).

Hot Docs 2007

Before I get into the previews ahead. Let me draw your attention to Hot Docs 2007. This year was asked again to help with the HotDocs design. It all started with a HUGE paper mache globe created by Brett Lamb. Who then in turn took the images and designed this years campaign. The festival this year runs from April 19th to 29th and is looking awesome.

My friend Maria is featured in Alan Zweig’s documentary Lovable. And my friend, Arturo Perez Torres has two documentaries in the fest, with City Idol and Super Amigos. (If you have any picks lemme know, perhaps I’ll join you.

Last night, went to a Game and Movie preview of Meet the Robinsons, the game was quite engaging, I got to play the xbox 360 version and after seeing the movie, it definitely compliments the characters in the film (More on this later). The film itself was outstanding. It’s one of those movies that I would definitely see again and will probably buy when it comes out on DVD. The characters are quirky and loveable. Even though the plot was very predictable at moments. Yes there are even funny moments in there for us big kids in our 30′s and beyond.

Rob Stewart : Sharkwater

Last Thursday, I saw a preview of Sharkwater with the Wootam (Thanks for the invite). I went it with no expectations and left, in awe because of the beauty of the film, and in disbelief of the ongoing slaughter of the world’s sharks. Rob Stewart, the man behind the documentary was in the theatre to answer questions from the audience. And it was quite apparently how passionate he was about the cause.

The week before that I saw the movie 300. I really don’t care how historically correct the movie was. Wasn’t it a graphic novel, thus fiction? That’s besides the point. All in all the movie was visually stunning. Thin on plot, but still pulled through with their message.

March Monday Night Madness

Snaps and Nikes

So the powerbook stopped booting on Sunday morning. It’s being looked at this week, but it means I’m without a computer for at least a week. Perhaps it’s time to look into an iMac.

This evening I got myself a pair of Nike runners. When did running shoes start to look so futuristic. So I figured I’d start using the treadmill and bike in the exercise room downstairs in my apt. So apparently with a purchase of shoes you get a free box of gingersnap cookies. WTF?

So I’m finally catching up on some ironing while watching Season One of Laguna Beach. How’s that for multitasking.

At the Junction

Because it’s been awhile since I’ve played with the lensbaby, and because I was out with a group of Canon users who would appreciate trying it out for themselves.

Drawn : Best Canadian Blog

Stupid Rannie and his stupid Bloggie

Congrats to John Martz and his crew at Drawn. They beat out photojunkie.ca as Best Canadian Weblog this year. Very well deserved John.

The picture above was from last year, when I won and he lost (although in a different category).

UPDATE: Apparently, I’ve been inducted into the Bloggies Hall of Fame of sorts. Starting next year, you will only be allowed to win in any given category, a maximum of 3 times. This means photojunkie will never be in the running for Best Canadian weblog ever again. I have won in 2003, 2005 and 2006.

Blowing in the Wind

This was taken outside of the Seagram’s Distillers Lofts in Waterloo, Ontario. We were out there visiting Firda and Troy during my GTA Wii Tour. They have since found and purchased their own Wii.

Motorola KRZR : Sugar Sweet

The folks over at Hill and Knowlton provided me with a Motorola KRZR K1m to try out and review a couple of weeks ago. It’s pretty damn sexy, but I do have a lists of beefs as well, which I will get to in a future review.

It didn’t occur to me that the commercial above was for the same phone that I had recieved, until I saw the commercial again this past weekend. I think subconsciously I knew it was a cellular phone ad, but what really caught me originally was the visual effects and the catchy tune, which I discovered is Sugar Sweet by The Icicles. An indie band from Grand Rapids Michigan, who will be releasing a new album this coming spring.

Check out the band, more about the phone soon enough.

GTABloggers: I’m Picking up the Ball

So over the last year and a half, I’ve gotten busy and kinda let gtablogers.com die a slow death. I dropped the ball and let things slide way way down. Well it’s not quite dead yet, and we are looking at rebuilding it in the next couple of months, bigger and even better than before. Aside, from being able to surf through an extensive blogroll of Toronto blogs, the GTABlogger community provided two things, which I’m officially bring back a) Regular Social Get Togethers and b) and Active Mailing List.

I know this is short notice for most, but quite a few of you have known about this for awhile now. We are having a Pub Night at the Duke of York TONIGHT.

GTABloggers Pub Night – March 2007
Tuesday, March 6, 2007

6:00pm – 11pm
Duke of York
39 Prince Arthur Ave.
Toronto, ON
Reservation is under GTAbloggers.

The second announcement is the opening of the GTABloggers google group.
http://groups.google.com/group/gtabloggers

The old list used to be a great resource to ask about various things about the city, ie recommendations for places to eat, buy things etc. I hope the Google group will grow to be something similiar to the old mailing list.
