Long time reader and fellow blogger Steve Smart is in Toronto this week for some courses. Likely I was still able to meetup with him at last night’s Toronto Flickr Meet at the Now Lounge

Check out Steve’s shot from the evening here.

chromewaves updated and big giveaway

Frank over at chromewaves.net has redesigned his diggs and I quite like it. The new header rocks… Dare I say Arcade Fire. I bet he’ll hate me for saying that. I really do love it though.

He is also having a “Let Your Mailbox Live Like A Blogger’s” Giveaway & Reader’s Poll. He is giving away the following, plus other cool schwag.

5 large and 5 medium padded mailers, filled with CDs, CD-Rs, stickers, pins, coasters (really). Maybe even a DVD. I think I have some. Hell, maybe I’ll even cram some press releases in there.

Jennifer

Trying to get my cousin to pose for me is like pulling teeth. Admittedly she like taking pictures of herself, but doesn’t like others doing the taking. It’s probably a controlling your self image sorta thing. It’s always the pretty ones that hide away from the camera. I finally convinced her to let me take a couple of shots, but still plenty of teeth had to be pulled.

Wii Want Accessories

Originally uploaded by buttershug*.

So Nikki over at Buttershug pick up some Wiimote covers this morning. She got Orange, Blue, Green and Pink.

This is the one thing that erks me about Nintendo Canada. They carry very little in terms of accessories for any of their systems.

For the Wii none of this is available in Canada yet. But it is widely available in the US. There is also the lack of the Wii Slingbag or any other accessories. Frankly, it’s annoying.

When I was in Buffalo this past summer, they had an array of “Swap and Carry” Nintendo accessories for the DS at EB, Target, Game Spot. Toys R US, you name it, none of which are available in Canada.

I guess Nintendo doesn’t see a big enough market in the Great White North. So now my options are to A) get someone to pick them up for me and ship them North, or B) take a roadtrip down to Buffalo and hope they have them in stock.

Any Urban Explorers out there have plans for Buffalo anytime soon? Lemme know.

It’s time like this when I wish I lived in Florida.

The Great Nunchuck Hunt of 2006

So the great hunt for the Wii nunchuck is officially over for me. I picked up 3 nunchucks from Walmart today and now I’m fully able to throw as many Wii parties as I like. I’ll even bring it over to your place if you like.

After hearing of the luck of my good friend a Buttershug. I believed I never would find the ever elusive nunchuck. Imagine going to Best Buy on a sunny and warm Sunday morning thinking your in line to get into the local Best Buy when someone hands you a ticket to the last remaining Wii in the store that day. Talk about being at the right place at the right time.

So this morning I get a txt message say there are tons of nunchucks, should I grab you one? Of course I got the message after she had gotten home, but I replied that I would wait. Besides shipping from Florida to Toronto would probably take a while and I was sure that they would be in-stock again by then. Hopefully.

So prior to lunch, I call up the Toys R Us and they tell me they are all out and haven’t gotten any new controllers since launch (They have gotten more consoles though, but of course they are currently out as well). Then I call up the ghetto Walmart near my place and the woman cheerfully tells me they have plenty.

Needless to say I was over there in a heartbeat.

So it looks like your best bet for snagging a nunchuck in Canada is at Walmart. Check the online store finder on the Walmart website and give them a call before heading down. It’s quickier that driving around like a nut from store to store.

Tonight it’s gonna be multiplayer Rayman action on the Wii.

Jay 2000

I found some old pictures, so I thought I would share. The second time Jay and I got together, I had my Canon Rebel S 35mm SLR in tow and we took pictures in and around the Ryerson campus. It was July in 2000 and I shot one roll. Click it big and look at how his eyes seem to glow.

I’m dreaming of a Canon HV10

So lately, I’ve started eyeing camcorders. Years ago, it was something I had very little interest in, but as we do more slapdash episodes, the urge to have my own is growing. Of course being the Canon boy that I am, my firsty instinct was to check out their line. I was immediately drawn to the Canon HV10 which is their newest High Def camcorder. My sights are a little high though, because that $1500 price tag is a little out of my range. Besides I don’t even have a HD TV. But that’s another story altogether.
