Canon 40D rumoured

40d

I haven’t recieved the official word yet from Canon Canada, but a rumour is in circulation that the Canon 40D will be out for mid-September. It will sport a 10.1-megapixel image sensor, a 2.5-inch display and most likely the same EOS Integrated Cleaning System as the recently announce Canon Digital Rebel XTi.

I must say I am pleased with the added functionality, especially with the anti-dust features, but I’m a little shocked at the short shelf life of the Canon 30D. My guess is that Canon will be releasing a new full-frame digital SLR in the near future, also with the new EOS Integrated Cleaning System.

As a 30D buyer of a couple months, I’d be so insulted, but is to be expected from them.

It seems that the cycles are getting shorter and shorter between various models of dSLRs. The 10D was on the market for quite sometime before the 20D was released. There was at least a year gap between the 20D and 30D. But gap is getting smaller and smaller.

I’m still holding out for an affordable full frame, or at least one with the EOS Integrated Cleaning System.

Meh.. Even if it is true, what is the attraction? 2 Mp and anti-dust.. I have cleaned my 20D and 30D sensors with a mix of windex and alcohol since I have owned them.. With Q tips at that.. Don’t believe the rumours that the filters can be scratched by looking at them, they are a lot tougher than Canon would lead you to believe.. As a self-professed gearaddict, I wouldn’t step up to the plate.. (even if it were true)

Yeah, but I’ve had it where dust entering the body in the middle of the day due to many lens changes (like during a wedding) has made half of my images have a dust spot. And the step up from my 10d (I’ve been patient) means better blowups to 8×10. Now I just need to replace my 1d 4.5 Mp…

ummmm, I’m guessing they are going to postpone the 40d until feb at the next big show, plus it’s after the rebates are done. bummer.

#1 google link for “canon 40d”!

it’s not surprising that new models keep coming along so quickly as they appear to be mostly tweaks on the 20d… 20d mark III anyone?

The biggest thing would be the new Digic III processor and better high ISO performance and perhaps expanded ISO to 6400 like the new 1D MK III.

40D bores me to tears, the anti-dust thing doesnt work on the xti, probably won’t work here either. I’m far more interested if the 5D being split into 2 camera models rumour is true.

Nobody is going to buy a 40D if they already have a 30D. Canon is silly.

Just stumbled upon this article today. Isn’t it crazy to fast forward into the future and see how far we’ve come with the 50D and the Mark II?
