Canon Digital Rebel XTi Officially announced in Canada

So I got the press release this afternoon from Canon Canada officially announcing the arrival of the newest in their line of Digital SLR’s, the Canon Digital Rebel XTi. This is the same rumoured camera as the Canon EOS 400D which was floating around online yesterday.
The features include
• 10.1 Megapixels
• APS-C CMOS image sensor
• 2.5 inch display screen
• 9-point autofocus system
• Simplified and streamlined menu navigation
• EOS Integrated Cleaning System, a self-cleaning image sensor unit/dust removal system
• new maximum burst rate in large/fine and raw quality modes that – at 3 frames per second
The new XTi will be available in store mid-September and will be offered in both sleek brushed silver patina and “pro” matte black finishes and will be available in two kit configurations with and without Canon’s high quality EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens. The manufacturer’s suggested list price of $1,350 with the zoom lens kit, while the body only kit will carry a manufacturer’s suggested list price of $1,175.
It’s great to see more bells and whistles being added to the Rebel series of Canon DSLRs, but the most exciting part of this release will be the introduction of the EOS Integrated Cleaning System. The system does two things to prevent dust; an ultrasonic anti-dust shake activates automatically for one second whenever the camera is powered on or off and a Dust Delete Data function can be turned on or off to map any persistent dust that remains.
Hopefully, this means we’ll see these anti-dust features in future releases of the Canon EOS DSLRs. And that is something to cheer about.

UPDATE: I added in the two shots of the camera that they provided, both in sleek brushed silver patina and “pro” matte black. My personal choice would be the “pro” matte black. You may not shoot like a “pro” but it’s always cool to look like one.
And if you got some spare change in your wallet maybe you might wanna check out the two new EF lens that Canon has announced. The powerful and fast EF50mm f/1.2L USM lens which will be available in November for a manufacturer’s suggested lst price of $2,150 and the compact and universal EF70-200mm f/4L IS USM for a manufacturer’s suggested list price of $1,800. Unfortunately, that’s more change than I actually have to spare. Besides I can buy 3 XTi’s with that kinda cash.

It really is about time they get that anti-dust element in place. Now if only we could bring current cameras in for an upgrade
I guess I should have waited a bit longer before I bought the 350D
Does it have the live view? I’ve been looking at Olympus lately with the live view.
I just bought this camera and I love it! the action shots I have been able to take of my kids playing hockey are incredible. I am able to take them with or without flash and they are perfect.
