On Monday August 21st 2006, my friend Irina is hosting the second Annual Picture the Cure Charity auction. When she did the event last year, she was raising funds for Princess Margaret’s Hospital. This year she is raising funds directly for the Canadian Cancer Society. There are a number of ways you can help out.

a) You can make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society
b) Donate a photo to be auctioned off at the event.
c) Buy something from the auction.
d) Donate a pledge to a smokefree photojunkie.

So, I bet you are wondering why would anyone want to donate through photojunkie?

On July 2nd, I quit smoking, after being a smoker for over 10 years. I don’t know how successful I will be in the long run, but I am going to make a committment to Irina and the Canadian Cancer Society. Between now and the end of August, I will have potentially saved 500 dollars from not smoking. I am willing to put this 500 dollars towards a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. However there is a catch. I will only donate dollar per dollar, the equivalent to any donations made by my readers. So if you guys can find it in your hearts to donate 500 dollars, then I will find it in mine to fork over the other 500 dollars. My goal of course is to raise 1000 dollars towards the cause. How much are you willing to part with?

Donations can be made directly to me in person or online at the Canadian Cancer Socity site. When making your donation online, choose In Honour. All cards can be sent to the following address. I’ll also take paypal as a last resort.
