control, control, control : Great shot. I love how he is sitting in the middle of a hall way.
TV Rots Your Brain : I simply love the concept behind this image. Or maybe I just love the look of my friend Ken with a papercup head.
It wasn’t until last year that I discovered the term Bokeh. And today I share it with you as my first Photography Defined post.
Dictionary.com – a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image.
Wikipedia – (from the Japanese boke γΌγ, “blur”) is a photographic term describing the subjective aesthetic qualities of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens. For example, causing an out-of-focus background image may reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject.
Here’s a photographic example of Bokeh. Different lens create different types of Bokeh. The most common way to achieve Bokeh is to shoot your subject with your aperature wide open.
In this example, the Bokeh is a lot more subtle.
I got this press release yesterday announcing the new Olympus Evolt E-330. The exciting thing about this camera is the Live view LCD. Traditionally, live view LCDs are common place on digital point and shoot cameras. Because of the through the lens nature of SLR cameras, LCDs on digital SLR’s have only been used to preview shots that have already been taken. Olympus has changed that, which is an exciting innovation.
100 per cent Digital SLR Camera Combines a Live View 2.5-Inch Articulated LCD, Exclusive Dust Reduction System for Spot-Free Photos, and TruePic TURBO Image Processor with Largest Selection of Digital-Specific Lenses
The Digital SLR is one step closer to becoming stealthy.
Another Long Exposure at Little Dell Reservoir : The tones and highlights work well here as they dance in the sky and reflect off the lake. Beautiful.
Learning to anticipate : I love the contrast between the road and the snow. The exposure her is wonderful, especially since you were able to capture detail in the snow and another the horizon.
